Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a serious mental disorder where people experience ongoing instability in behavior, self-image, moods, and functioning.
People with BPD may also have other mood disorders like anxiety and depression, along with suicidal thoughts and tendencies.
There's probably a lot you don't know or understand about BPD — it's not as talked about as some mental illnesses, and it's not like there's a ton of accurate representation in pop culture out there.
It wasn't even added to the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders until 1980, so research is still relatively new... and still developing.
