Multiple people were injured Tuesday in Manhattan in what police described as a reported shooting.
New York police spokesperson J. Peter Donald tweeted at 3:21 p.m. that officers were responding to reports of shots fired. The department also announced on Twitter that one person had been taken into custody and that there were no other outstanding suspects or active threats.
The extent of the injuries at the scene was not immediately clear, but purportedly from the scene showed people lying on the ground.
Other images and video showed a significant police presence in the area, as well as what appeared to be a wrecked truck.
Police advised people to avoid the area around Chambers St. and West St. An investigation was ongoing.
